GREEK FINANCIAL MARKET
The General Index in Athens Stock Exchange (ASE) closed at 811.51 posting losses of 0.98%, in a turnover of €40.70mn.
The Greek Prime Minister Mr. Antonis Samaras will travel to Washington on August 8, where he will meet the U.S. President Mr. Barack Obama. In the first meeting between the two leaders, they will discuss bilateral, regional and international issues.
The IMF spokesman Mr. Gerry Rice said that there is no risk of a financing gap in Greece until August 2014, adding that the Eurozone will keep supporting Greece after July 2014. Moreover, he confirmed that the Fund will meet in July for the tranche of €1.8bn that is expected to be disbursed in mid-August, and urged Greece to accelerate the agreed reforms.
The jobless rate rose to 26.9% in April from 26.8% in March and 23.1% a year earlier (ELSTAT).
- Intralot: It announced that it received a 6-year internet betting license from the Polish Ministry of Finance through its subsidiary Totolotek.
- Greek Banks: The Greece’s securities watchdog lifted a short-selling ban on bank shares on July 15.
